Arsenal Star Olivier Giroud has won the Fifa Puskas Award for the year 2017.
It has been a colourful night in London as FIFA awards the finest players and coaches in different categories. Already declared winner of the Puskas Award for the best goal of the year is Olivier Giroud’s well-taken scorpion kick against Crystal Palace.
The FIFA Best Award was previously they Balloon D’Or held alongside France Football Magazine until 2015 when they parted ways.
Turned up for the night is Lionel and beautiful wife, Antonella Rocuzzo, Cristiano Ronaldo, girlfriend and son, Cris(Jr), Granit Xhaka, PSG right back, Dani Alves, Diego Maradona, Gianluigi Buffon, Idris Elba and a host of other stars.
The award given to Giroud is the first time a player from the EPL will be winning it. The goal has huge reputation from English football fans as its execution was near-perfect. Masuluke’s winning goal and bicycle-kick was pipped by Giroud’s goal after receiving the highest number of votes.
Other categories to be awarded tonight is the male and female coaches of the year, the best player in the world called “the best award” and a host of other categories yet to be announced.
Giroud reached a milestone of 100 Arsenal goals earlier this season despite receiving heavy criticisms from club and country fans.
Also present in London are NFF President, Amaju Pinnick and Vice President and LMC Chairman, Shehu Dikko.
